A President and a Pandemic
I am so disappointed with the global scientific community. They had a lot of free time recently, with all these lockdowns, reduced work hours and work-from-home scenarios – and they could have come up with truly amazing inventions.
Like discovering a vaccine for despots, dictators and other politicians, which would neutralise greed, selfishness and destructive tendencies. After reading recent reports about vaccines, I guess delicate doses of dopamine attached to DNA altering agents should do the trick. And voila, we would be so close to world peace.
Or inventing a compact personal lie-detector that would set off high-decibel alarms when a person, well, lies. Then all we have to do is make it mandatory for politicians to wear one while making pre-election promises.
Meanwhile, we are waiting to say goodbye to a weird pandemic. Though it has socially distanced us, it has brought the entire world together. Whether we like it or not, we are now part of a new breed – Pandemicans. And we have learnt invaluable lessons – how to hunt and gather in a lockdown, when demand is cocaine high and supply is suicidal-tendency low… how you could sit at home in t-shirt and shorts and still make your company profits go up… and the earth heals and feels better if there are less humans littering and loitering about.
And speaking of dictators, we are also waiting to say goodbye to a weird President. Though he has distanced people on the basis of political ideologies, he has brought the whole world together. Whether we like him or not, we are part of a global group – Trump-Talkers. (He is heatedly talked about by odd and assorted people, from illiterate laborers in dark distant nations to elite illuminati in glittery settings.) And he has taught us invaluable lessons – think before you tweet, pay taxes before you run for President, wear a mask or Covid will get you.
Trump and Corona, individually or as a team, have inspired writers and artists the world over. Including me. One of the recurring themes in this blog is ‘Once Upon A Reincarnation’, which wonders who Trump could have been in previous lifetimes. And this theme has been extended to Corona too.
I sincerely hope that in the future, the world will have nicer and more considerate presidents, politicians, and pandemics.
